Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan, BUP, nswc, fawc, psc paid a formal visit to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University (BSMRAAU) on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Vice Chancellor, BSMRAAU Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Nazrul Islam BSP, nswc, afwc, psc, welcomed the Air Chief to the University and took him around different facilities. Adhering to the COVID-19 protocols, the Air Chief interacted with faculty and staff and was apprised about the current academic activities and plans of the University. The Air Chief was accompanied by his Principal Staff Officer and other high officials from Air Headquarters.

BSMRAAU was established under the active patronage of the honourable Prime Minister in 2019. Its mission is to transform people into aviation, space and technology, professionals and enthusiast, by providing world-class education. It is the only public university in the country dedicated to developing the aviation and aerospace sector with a focus on indigenous capacity building and producing our aircraft. The Air Chief was informed that the University will start a few more postgraduate and undergraduate programmes on space science, satellite technology, aviation and aerospace in the next academic year. He was also briefed about the progress of shifting the University to its permanent campus in Lalmonirhat.

The Chief of Air Staff in his remarks applauded the initiative and achievements of the University braving all challenges including the COVID-19. Hoping that BSMRAAU will play a leading role in spreading the standard and high-quality education in the aviation and aerospace sector, the Air Chief assured that BAF will continue to assist the University in its noble endeavour. Echoing the dream of the honourable Prime Minister, the Chief of Air Staff wished that the research and innovation activities of the University will open ‘the gateway to manufacture aircraft locally’ in future. He thanked the members of BSMRAAU for their commendable efforts and hoped that the University will soon start operating from its permanent campus in Lalmonirhat and materialise its plans of starting new academic programmes.
