UGC Team Visits BSMRAAU Lalmonirhat Campus ahead of starting academic activities

Dil Afroza Begum, acting chairman of UGC, headed the team and was connected virtually while Professor Abu Taher, a distinguished member of the regulatory body led the team on ground. The team included officials from the Public University Division of UGC. Pro-Vice Chancellor Air Commodore Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the project.   Mentionable that, BSMRAAU – the country's first public university for aviation and aerospace studies and research, started its academic activities from its Dhaka campus in 2020. However, the permanent campus of BSMRAAU will be at Lalmonirhat – the future aviation city of Bangladesh. As the approval process of the Development Project Proposal (DPP) for the new University continues, a few academic and accommodation facilities are constructed by Bangladesh Air Force on its premises in Lalmonirhat to facilitate and expedite BSMRAAU’s ability to conduct its academic activities from there as per the national priority. The University plans to conduct its undergraduate programmes from the permanent campus from 26 July 2022. The Pro Vice Chancellor briefed the delegation about the project completion and accompanied the Tem during their tour of the newly constructed facilities. The UGC team inspected different classrooms, laboratories, accommodation and other associated facilities of the campus and expressed their satisfaction. The registrar, treasurer, dean, head of departments and relevant BSMRAAU officials were present during the visit. It is hoped that the inspection will lead to UGC's approval to start the undergraduate classes from the Lalmonirhat campus as scheduled
